Apple Picking

It was a first for me.  Luckily the weather was perfect, the sky was clear and the temperature was cool.  Best date ever.

Vintage Styling: Sheer Blouses

Sheer blouses are one of my favorite items to transition from summer to fall.  While the sheer fabrics might seems like they have seasonal limitations simply wearing the floaty blouse with structured bottoms such as wool trousers or a leather skirt will effortlessly bring the pieces into cooler weather.

Hunter Boots

I'm finally ready to invest in a pair of Hunter boots, I was trying to think of what I really need for fall (as opposed to want), and a sturdy boot to get me through rain, wet leaves and slush is on the top of the list.  As fun as the bright yellow pair are, I think I might opt for the more classic and versatile black which would look perfect with my trench coat.

Take Ivy

The slightest chill has hit New York and it has me sitting at my desk drinking tea and dreaming about fall.  When it comes to dressing for fall I invariably find myself leaning towards more preppy pieces including lots of tweeds, bright wools and colorful plaids.

The above images are from Take Ivy a fashion book originally published in Japan in 1965 and featuring the preppy styling of Ivy League universities.  Until recently the books were very hard to come by and were going for hundreds of dollars on ebay, however its being rereleased on August 31 at a very reasonable $13.47.
